We have to talk more about what is *really* in our skin care products. Parabens, PEGs, Sulfates, Mineral oils, Petrolatum, and Synthetic colors aren’t good for us, but they are included in many beauty ingredient labels. When I did some research and saw that the average woman encounters nearly 200 different chemicals a day in the name of self-care, I realized this was a major issue.
I evaluated what beauty products I had in my current roster. There were definitely some that I could go natural with. To find my new fixes, I went to Troupe‘s website. They are an indie beauty marketplace that showcases natural and ethical products. After window shopping the site, I decided to treat myself to a couple new skin care items. In about two weeks after ordering, I received my package.
Detoxing Pores & Clearing Skin
The first thing I opened was the all natural Cacao & Chamomile Clearing Clay Mask from Herbal Dynamics Beauty. Doesn’t that sound relaxing? It also has lavender in it which really sold me.

First Impressions: It looks like dessert. The creamy texture and sweet smell could almost make your mouth water.
Trying it Out: The application went very smoothly. As the mask was settling in, it still felt hydrating. I left the mask on for 10 minutes and then rinsed it off. The mask left my face feeling very soft, clean, and refreshed. I enjoy doing a mask each week, so this product will fit into my routine perfectly.
Healthy Hydration & Illumination
The other item I ordered was UpCircle‘s Face Moisturiser. I tend to use moisturizer every day, so I wanted a new and natural swap. I also saw it was loaded with nourishing ingredients like cocoa butter and aloe vera. There’s even vitamin E from the powdered argan shells.

First Impressions: Right away I noticed the gorgeous orange, citrus smell. Then I looked inside and could see the smooth, creamy consistency.
Trying it Out: The moisturizer had a lotion-like texture that felt light to apply. My skin really soaked it up, but a little went a long way. Throughout the day my face stayed moisturized without feeling or looking oily. This product will definitely stay a part of my morning and evening routines.
Final Thoughts
I am happy I invested in some new products that I can feel good about (and that my skin feels good about). When I’m shopping for self-care in the future, I will definitely pay more attention to ingredient labels. We can fight for cleaner beauty products by voting with our dollars.
If you feel like checking out Troupe Beauty too, you can use my code “Megan” on the site. (p.s. I purchased the products shown in this blog, but I do make commission on my code)
