Living “Unfiltered”

Living “Unfiltered”

Let’s be honest, the world could use a little less filtering. Blogger @Beauty__In__Blume and I recently kicked off the hashtag #bloggersunfiltered to bring awareness to that fact.

To us, being “unfiltered” goes hand-in-hand with being authentic. On an individual level, being “unfiltered” means you show up as your true self online and in person. When you are “unfiltered”, you let your personality shine. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t use presets. If an image filter helps you to express yourself, go for it!

We also felt like “unfiltered” could describe a type of lifestyle or a set of behaviors. For example, if you use all natural beauty products you are avoiding chemical “filters”. If you consume more raw foods, then you are avoiding preservative “filters”.

I believe that minimizing the filters that we put on our personalities, as well as the filters that we consume everyday, can lead to a more fulfilling lifestyle.

Here are some small ways I have been living unfiltered:

Journaling. I have been writing from prompts to open up honest and deep conversations with myself. I find it relaxing to process whatever is going on with a pen and paper. I don’t have to proofread or revise my journal entries; they are completely unfiltered.

Using Natural Self-Care. Whenever I need or want a new beauty product, I look for natural and clean formulas. I try to be mindful of the brands I purchase from.

When Life Gives Me Lemons… I make detox lemonade! I have been loving @itsnubeauty ‘s recipe for it. All you need is 1 gallon of water, 3 lemons, 1 teaspoon of Himalayan salt, and 2 tablespoons of raw honey to make it. It’s delicious and way better than store bought or sugar-filled alternatives.

What does “unfiltered” mean to you? How do you live unfiltered? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or on Instagram. Make sure to use #bloggersunfiltered!
