Beauty Review: Are Dryer Hair Brushes Worth It?

Beauty Review: Are Dryer Hair Brushes Worth It?

I don’t know about you, but I have been seeing dryer hair brushes *everywhere*. It seems to be one of the hottest beauty tools on the market right now. Various sources claim that a dryer brush can provide you with a perfect at-home blowout.

I’ve been extremely curious about the tool and how it might work for me. So, I was very excited when Conair sent me over The Knot Dr. Dryer Brush to try out along with some other self-care goodies.

For some background, my hair is naturally wavy. After I shower, I typically just let it air dry. I will usually use a beach wave or sea salt spray to enhance my curls.

This routine works perfect for me, unless I am in a rush to get somewhere. Then, heat comes in handy. Let’s be honest, we don’t always have all day for our hair to dry. I decided to give the dryer brush a try this past week while I was getting ready to go to class.

Here is a look at my hair before I washed it and after I washed it:

And, here is a look at my hair after using the dryer brush:

The dryer brush glided through my hair and felt amazing on my scalp. I alternated brushing from the top and underneath my hair throughout drying. I rotated the brush as I moved it from my roots to my ends. I also alternated between the high and low heat settings depending on how dry different areas of my head were. It only took me about 10-15 minutes to completely dry my hair.

My hair felt way softer after using the dryer brush. I believe you can also see a significant difference in my hair’s texture from the before and after images. I can also notice a difference in volume from the before and after. Immediately after using the brush, I noticed some frizz. But, after finishing my morning routine, the frizz was pretty much gone.

One tip that I have is to really brush your hair out with a regular brush before using a dryer brush. This helps the dryer brush to just glide through your hair, and it makes the experience a bit more relaxing. The dryer brush can get out your tangles, but I preferred the experience without knots.

So, are dryer hair brushes worth it? I would say yes. If you are looking for a quick way to dry and style your hair in the morning, it is worth it. I can’t speak for other brands, but I found that Conair’s dryer brush was high quality and effective.

Do you use a dryer brush? What’s a new beauty tool you want to try? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or on Instagram. Let’s chat!
