Downtown Green Bay’s Cafe Crawl: A Caffeinated Adventure

Downtown Green Bay’s Cafe Crawl: A Caffeinated Adventure

I stayed very caffeinated last weekend while exploring nine local shops located in Downtown Green Bay. My husband, family, and I attended the Cafe Crawl together for the second year, so I think it qualifies as a tradition now!

The Cafe Crawl is one of my favorite annual events in the area. It combines my love for coffee and my love for the amazing local spots we have in Green Bay.

Here’s a look at where we explored on the crawl:

Glas Coffeehouse

Glas served up a special Draft Day brew and chocolate chip energy bites. They provided the perfect cozy setting to enjoy our treats and watch the trolly zoom from stop to stop outside the window.

Captain’s Walk Winery

This winery is a favorite spot of mine. The vibes, the aesthetic, and the wine are all incredible. Instead of serving simply coffee, Captain’s Walk served Coffee Bean Buzz cocktails (coffee with Kahlua, Tequila, and whipped cream).

Grounded Cafe

Here we sampled a hot cup of chaider (chai & apple cider), and a gluten-free peanut butter cookie. Look at the photo below and you’ll see that the cookie was so good my husband couldn’t let the phone eat first.

If you’ve been a reader, you may remember that I mentioned Grounded Cafe on the blog before. Grounded served as a stop on the 2023 Cafe Crawl, too! You can check out my 2023 Cafe Crawl journey for even more coffee shop recommendations. But, first, let’s visit the rest of the 2025 stops – read on!

Hotel Northland

This stop had my favorite treat: a cinnamon roll! Hotel Northland is a gorgeous place to stay or simply grab a drink or a meal. My husband and I enjoyed a mini staycation at Hotel Northland a couple of years back. It has a very elegant and historic charm while offering luxurious modern amenities.

Lion’s Mouth Bookstore

Book lovers, this is the place for you! Lion’s Mouth served freshly brewed coffee and tea. I hadn’t been in the shop since they unveiled their in-store coffee bar, so it was exciting to see the cafe in action! I’ll have to return for a sip and a read.

Loco Wisco

You can always depend on Loco Wisco for a beautiful assortment of local goods. Here, we sampled Door County Coffee and espresso cheese. I have to say, espresso and cheese seemed like an unusual pairing, but it totally worked!

Daily Buzz

I enjoyed a Honey Bee Refresher sample at Daily Buzz. This coffee shop is high on my list of downtown favorites. In the same location, at night, the space comes to life as The Nightly Buzz. It’s on my list of places to check out!

The Attic

Here is yet another place perfect for book lovers! The Attic has shelves of books to explore and find your next read as well as everything you’d expect from your typical coffee shop. They brewed a few tea options to try.

The Kompound

This is a fairly new coffee shop in the area, but it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. The Kompound has a unique style and a delicious line-up of lattes. During the crawl, I tried the Peanut Butter Latte – it was perfectly sweet and the tastiest way to wrap up our caffeinated adventure.

Confessions of a Former Starbucks Barista

Confessions of a Former Starbucks Barista

While in college, I worked as a barista at Starbucks. I had a flexible schedule and all the coffee I needed to fuel late-night study sessions. It was a great fit for the time! I recently had the opportunity to reflect on my experience in this Mashed article: Baristas Reveal What Your Starbucks Drink Order Really Says About You.

It was fun to think back on all of the unique drink orders I made and the customers I interacted with. And, trust me, I heard A LOT of unique drink orders during my time at Starbucks.

But, in reflecting, there was one drink order that stood out from the rest: the “Pinkity Drinkity.” Every so often a customer would utter those words, and I couldn’t stop myself from cracking a smile. If you don’t know what that drink is, allow me to explain…

When someone says they want a “Pinkity Drinkity” all they are really asking for is a Pink Drink. This is a drink that combines the Starbucks Strawberry Acai Refresher with coconut milk. It’s a sweet and refreshing sip! So, why on Earth were people referring to this drink as a “Pinkity Drinkity”? Well, that’s what Influencer James Charles would call the drink, so it stuck with people!

I remember watching his videos and honestly thinking that was the name of the drink before I worked at Starbucks! Whenever someone would order a “Pinkity Drinkity,” I thought one of two things had to be going on:

1.) They took James Charles’ word for it and confidently assumed that was the name of the drink.

2.) They knew they could say Pink Drink, but they also knew saying “Pinkity Drinkity” was more fun.

No matter the reason someone said, “Can I get a Pinkity Drinkity?,” they added entertainment to my shifts. And, they gave me a story to tell in this article.

Have you ever ordered a “Pinkity Drinkity”? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or on Instagram. Let’s chat!

Groovy & Spooky: Retroween at Retro Eighth Coffee

Groovy & Spooky: Retroween at Retro Eighth Coffee

As spooky season comes to a close, I’m glad I made it to one last Halloween-themed event. This weekend, Retro Eighth Coffee hosted Retroween – a party complete with coffee flights, creepy dolls, and a craft fair. The Brikery even brought mummy macarons. It was a scary fun time to enjoy!

The Grooviest Coffee Shop

Retro Eighth has such an iconic vibe and aesthetic. It’s the type of place where you could sip coffee and chat for hours – which means it’s totally my type of place.

The funky vibes of Retro Eighth even continue in the restroom with records on the wall. Gotta love the perfect mirror pic opportunity!

Tasty Sips & Eats

Both the drinks and food are delicious. My mom and I split a seasonal coffee flight and the Chipotle Aristotle sandwich.

The Chipotle Aristotle is a bagel sandwich with chicken, gouda, chipotle aioli, peppers, and avocado. If you like a bite with a touch of spice, this is the order for you!

The coffee flight featured a nice variety of sips: salted caramel, moon milk, vanilla bourbon, and maple & oak. If I were to order one of the drinks again, I’d likely go for the vanilla bourbon or the maple & oak.

Treat Yourself

If you find yourself in the Manitowoc area, stop by and enjoy! Don’t worry, the creepy dolls aren’t always out to play – Retroween was just a very special occasion.

Coffee Shops You Need to Visit in De Pere, WI

Coffee Shops You Need to Visit in De Pere, WI

In my last blog post, I shared six coffee shops in Downtown Green Bay. Downtown De Pere also has some great local stops to get your caffeine fix. In this blog, I will cover a few of my favorites, but I know there’s still more of De Pere that I need to explore! If you have any favorite coffee shops in the area, leave me a comment at the end of this post.

Luna Cafe

This is one of my favorite spots to grab brunch. They feature different daily sandwiches and wraps, so there’s guaranteed to be something new to try. The De Pere location is nice and cozy. It’s a great spot for getting some stuff done on your laptop or meeting up with friends. My go-to order here switches between a lavender honey latte or an iced americano with a splash of milk.

The Exchange

The best way to describe this coffee shop is aesthetic. It’s very industrial, with lots of wood, black, metal, and gold furniture and decor. I always enjoy their honey lattes (with almond milk) and their avocado toast. Speaking of their avocado toast, it’s not what you would typically expect. The base that would usually be bread is swapped out with a bubble waffle. My first impression was a bit skeptical, but after tasting it, I was a fan.

One piece of advice if you visit this shop on the weekend: get there early! It can get pretty busy, and it can be difficult to find a table. But it’s worth it.

Tazza Italian Coffee Co.

With exposed brick and greenery, this coffee shop is also very cute. I love this cafe for their seasonal flights. They have latte flights, hot chocolate flights, and even lemonade flights. Their latest round of lemonade flights features lavender, strawberry rose, hibiscus, and honey jasmine flavors. It was delicious, so try it while you can!

Exploring Coffee Shops in Downtown Green Bay

Exploring Coffee Shops in Downtown Green Bay

This past weekend, I joined in on the Cafe Crawl all around Downtown Green Bay. The crawl featured six different local coffee and tea shops and lots of unique caffeinated treats to enjoy. Admittedly, I’ve been waiting for this event to return since the last Cafe Crawl I went to in 2018. Coffee and hanging out downtown are just a couple of my favorite things, so this event is the perfect blend!

If you’re looking for a new cafe to try, you can’t go wrong with any of the shops that were on the Cafe Crawl route:

Daily Buzz Espresso Bar

The crawl began at Daily Buzz Espresso Bar. This shop is a favorite of mine since I can always count on enjoying something from their seasonal drink menu. Not to mention, their food is great and their bakery case is always mouth-watering. The aesthetic of Daily Buzz is a bit industrial yet still cozy.

Glas Coffeehouse

As you may guess from the name, Glas Coffeehouse has Irish roots. This place is my go-to when I want a big cup of cold brew. If you don’t get a chance to visit this shop in person, you should check if you’re in the designated area for their bike delivery. Yep, you read that right. They deliver coffee and treats in a very eco-friendly way.

Grounded Cafe at ADRC

If you’re looking for a cup of coffee that can make a difference, check out Grounded Cafe. They provide a space for people of all abilities and all ages to thrive. You can check them out on the ‘gram for all of their daily special announcements.

The Attic Books and Coffee

Calling all book lovers! The coffee shop doubles as a book shop. So, while you sip, you can also shop a variety of pre-loved books. I always recommend The Attic to friends who are new to the area.

Cultivate Taste Tea Salon

Cultivate Taste is a tea shop that’s somewhat new to the area and very new to me. I’ve stopped by a couple of times during local events like the Cafe Crawl, but I’d love to visit for an official tea tasting.

Voyageurs Bakehouse

This place is really beautiful and bright. Their lattes are artfully done, and their bakery treats are so yummy. Voyageurs is the kind of place that I enjoy going to on a slow Saturday morning. If you’re looking for a solid breakfast and an Instagramable location, this is your place.

Cheers to the Holidays: How-To Make a Dirty Chai Tea Latte

Cheers to the Holidays: How-To Make a Dirty Chai Tea Latte

If you can’t get enough of cinnamon and spice around the holidays, this drink is for you. It’s simple to make, and it will give you just the kick of caffeine you need. Also, it’s a great treat to make for guests!

Here are your six steps to a perfect Dirty Chai Tea Latte:

Step 1: Add 1 tablespoon of Vanilla Copina Co to your cup (or another vanilla flavored powder or syrup).

Step 2: Add an espresso shot or a bit of hot coffee to your cup. Mix the coffee well with the vanilla flavoring.

Step 3: Add 1/2 cup of chai tea concentrate of your choosing.

Step 4: Add 1/2 cup of milk (I used oat milk).

Step 5: Add ice.

Optional: Add a cinnamon stick for some extra spice

Step 6: Enjoy!

At-Home Coffee Recipe: Reishi Maple Cold Brew

At-Home Coffee Recipe: Reishi Maple Cold Brew

Who knew that mushrooms and coffee could mix? I didn’t believe it until I tried the Reishi Maple Cold Brew from one of my favorite local shops, Bona Fide Juicery.

Upon the first sip, the drink was extremely smooth and delicious. It was the perfect mix of cold brew, coconut creamer, maple syrup, reishi powder, and cinnamon. If you are in the area, I highly recommend going to Bona Fide and trying it out! It has become one of my go-to orders there.

If you are not in the area or if you want an at-home option, this drink is pretty easy to replicate. All you need are a few ingredients and a touch of barista technique. A hand frother is also very helpful to have, but in a pinch, a whisk can work too.

To get started on my at-home Reishi Maple Cold Brew, I collected my pre-made Krum cold brew, Om Mushroom hot chocolate blend, Nut Pods original creamer, store-brand cinnamon powder, store-brand sugar-free maple syrup, and ice.

I used some Om Mushroom hot chocolate blend instead of reishi powder to give it a mocha taste. If you prefer, you can definitely use regular reishi powder!

The first step is to combine the reishi powder, creamer, cinnamon, and maple syrup. How much of each ingredient you use is really up to you and your taste buds. Personally, I used about a teaspoon of reishi powder, two tablespoons of creamer, a couple of shakes of cinnamon, and a teaspoon of maple syrup. I used my hand frother to mix everything up until I had a nice amount of froth and dissolved powders.

The next step is just adding your ice and cold brew to the mug you used to combine everything. If you want to get a little fancy you can also add a sprinkle of cinnamon on top, but that’s optional.

Last step: enjoy!

My First Sip of the Holidays

My First Sip of the Holidays

This week Starbucks began serving their holiday lineup. As the weather gets cooler, I find myself craving fun and festive drinks. Annually, I look forward to Red Cup Day.

In case you do not already know, Red Cup Day is the day that Starbucks hands out red cups with your holiday drink order. For me, it has become a tradition of sorts to wake up and go to Starbucks when it opens to claim my red cup and get my first sip of the holidays.

I love this year’s cup; the pattern is so simple yet so cute! To ring in the holiday season, I ordered a grande Caramel Brulee Latte with soy milk. It’s one of my favorite indulgent drinks.

Some of my other favorites are the Toasted White Chocolate Mocha and the Chestnut Praline Latte. I’d recommend giving them a try hot or iced. As we speak, I may or may not have placed a mobile order…

You Need to Order This: Trying Followers Favorite Starbucks Drinks

You Need to Order This: Trying Followers Favorite Starbucks Drinks

With as much as I enjoy going out for coffee, it was easy to become a cafe regular with a regular order. But, eventually taste buds get bored. I never thought I would have “to many” Iced Americanos, but I did.

To get some new drink inspiration, I took to Instagram. I posted a simple Q&A poll with the question: “What’s your favorite Starbucks order?”.

I received so many unique responses. To my surprise, there wasn’t one customization or drink the same. I decided to commit my next few Starbucks runs to trying follower drinks. It was time to break out of my comfort zone and find some new favorites.

The first drink I tried was @ruby_mundok ‘s. She orders a Peach Green Tea Lemonade with Classic Sweetener.

I assumed I’d enjoy this drink. I love a good iced tea, and Starbucks Peach inclusion is delicious. I am happy to say it turned out to be as refreshing as I imagined. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a fun summer drink.

The next drink I tried was @itsashleykramer ‘s: a Cold Brew with Dark Cocoa Almond Milk Foam.

This drink was a pretty recent addition to the Starbucks menu. I was definitely curious about it before, so I am glad I got the push to order it. The first thing I noticed was the gorgeous layers of the drink. After sipping, I was able to confirm that its taste lived up to its presentation. If you enjoy a cold brew with just a touch of sweetener this drink is for you.

On another Starbucks run, I decided to order @katesmovingmountains ‘ regular. She gets a Mango Dragonfruit Refresher with Lemonade and no ice. Also, she likes to add on a Marshmallow Dream Bar.

This was another new-to-me order. I really enjoyed the refresher; it had a kick of tartness, but just enough sweetness too. The Marshmallow Dream Bar was such a treat! It felt so light and cloud-like. I’d recommend this order combo to anyone craving a snack on the go.

Last but certainly not least, I received some follower suggestions of drinks that I have already ordered and loved too! For your enjoyment, here they are:

Iced Green Tea Matcha Latte from @yaymeli.m

Iced Carmel Macchiato with Soy Milk from @asantemarie

Pink Drink from @anthonycattani

Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew with Extra Vanilla from @katie.graace

Iced Black Tea Lemonade from @catelynpicco

I hope this can inspire all of us to expand our personal Starbucks’ menus. I know mine has a few new additions. Thank you to everyone who participated in my poll and shared their favorites!

My Tour de Coffee Experience

My Tour de Coffee Experience

If you are looking for an excuse treat yourself to a latte and a scone, here it is! The Tour de Coffee is a self-guided cafe crawl that was originally created by Erin aka @girlmeetsnewyorkcity on Instagram. To participate, you have to visit three cafes and order a drink/snack at each stop. The catch? No bathroom breaks are allowed.

I thought this sounded like a fun challenge to try out with my friend Ashley. We each had about 20 bucks and Apple Maps, so we were ready to go.

To take you along for the ride, I documented our journey vlog-style. I hope you enjoy our caffeinated adventure; maybe it’ll even inspire you to plan your own tour.
