Girls’ Day Out: Making Candles at Luna Glo Candle Bar

Girls’ Day Out: Making Candles at Luna Glo Candle Bar

Luna Glo Candle Bar is a gorgeous new shop in Downtown Green Bay that offers a DIY candle experience. It’s the perfect activity for a girls’ day outing or even a date night! Here’s a look at my recent visit, and how I created my very own candle:

Step 1: Selecting Fragrances

Luna Glo offers over 90 fragrance options, so there really is something for everyone! I selected 2 scents to mix in my candle creation: fruit loops and vanilla.

Step 2: Choosing a Vessel

Again, there are lots of lovely options. There were a few vessels that caught my eye, but I ultimately decided on an opalite pink glass.

Step 3: Adding a Wick & Labels

I upgraded for a woodwick, but you can also keep it classic. I loved customizing my candle name sticker and hearing how others labeled their creations.

Step 4: Mixing Scents & Pouring Wax

I mixed the fruit loop and vanilla fragrances separately from the wax to achieve the perfect ratio. Then, the fragrance and wax were mixed up before being poured into the vessel. After the wax was poured, I added glitter for an extra sparkly touch.

Curing Your Custom Creation

The candle needs time to cure before you take it home (about 60-90 minutes). You can wait in the shop, or you can head out and come back. Our group decided to hang out and chat, and the time flew right by!

The candle-making experience was fun, creative, and cozy. And, very beginner-friendly! You are guided throughout the experience, so no worries if you’ve never made a candle before. The aesthetic of the shop is very welcoming and calm. It’s a great place to gather with friends/loved ones and create something unique!

Door County Weekend Getaway: Exploring Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, and Sturgeon Bay

Door County Weekend Getaway: Exploring Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, and Sturgeon Bay

This past weekend, I enjoyed time in Door County with my mom. Our weekend adventure took us on a tour around Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, and Sturgeon Bay. We went to some of my favorite places and lots of new-to-us spots! I love a Door County day trip, but this time we extended our stay with a night at Harbor Haven. This meant we had even more time to explore! It was a lovely 2-day getaway. Here’s a recap:

On Saturday morning, our first stop was Door County Coffee Company to get caffeinated for the day ahead. I ordered a pumpkin spice latte, and my mom got the pumpkin chai (tis the season). Both sips were delicious and fueled our journey to Egg Harbor.

A must-visit place on my list was Sunrise on Main Boutique in Egg Harbor. I always love shopping at the Green Bay location, so it was exciting to finally check out the Door County shop. Sunrise on Main had a beautifully curated selection of second-hand clothing and accessories. I loved seeing great vintage finds like leather and fur coats and even vintage Coach bags.

After Egg Harbor, we drove to Fish Creek to visit more shops and enjoy the sights. June Landing was on my list to visit in Fish Creek (seeing the shop on the ‘gram influenced me). The boutique has a coastal vibe and reminded me of the aesthetic of The Summer I Turned Pretty!

Once we had visited all of the shops we wanted to in Fish Creek, we were ready to head to Sturgeon Bay to grab a late lunch. We made a pit stop at Lautenbach’s market store before ending up at Door County Fire Company to eat. We both enjoyed the summer salad wrap – a perfect treat!

Sturgeon Bay had lots of downtown shops that we walked around after our meal. A few of our favorites were Bliss at The Marketplace, Door County Candy, The Brick Alley, Hey Daisy, and Dancing Bear Toys (Jellycat fans, you need to visit this toy store!). Each place was very unique with so many cute things to look at!

We each ended up getting a pair of the World’s Softest Socks (aka the BEST cozy socks ever) from The Brick Alley. My haul also included E. Frances Little Notes, espresso martini edition!

After a whole day of shopping and walking around, we enjoyed some relaxing time at Harbor Haven, our Airbnb for the weekend. It was the perfect place to take a moment and plot out dinner plans.

After some searching, we discovered Dromhus, a local wine bar & eatery, was just a walk away. In about 15 minutes, we found ourselves in a renovated chapel with fun and eclectic decor. We ordered hard ciders and a flatbread pizza made with smoked gouda, granny smith apples, bacon, and a honey drizzle. The experience, sips, and eats were all 10/10. I’m already craving a visit to this place again!

We really made the most out of our Saturday, so it felt good to return to our Airbnb to relax, get cozy, and recharge for another day in Sturgeon Bay.

Sunday morning, we enjoyed a calm routine and began to add a few things to our itinerary.

We knew we wanted to go to 5th & Jefferson Coffee House, so that felt like the perfect first stop for a latte and breakfast! Bonus: it’s just a walk away from Harbor Haven.

As we walked up to 5&J, we saw tons of outdoor seating options and even a walk-up window. Walking inside, we were met with lots of funky and cool decor. The cafe had great energy, and our order was delicious.

“The Frankie” grilled egg burrito had bacon, egg, cheese, peppers, and onions – yum! And, we both went for the “Honey Bear Latte” which featured honey, brown sugar, and cinnamon – yum, again! 5&J gave us the perfect fuel for another day of exploring in Sturgeon Bay.

We walked across the Sturgeon Bay Bridge to check out more local shops. On the bridge, the views were absolutely stunning! I recommend taking the walking path when you visit. Sure, we could’ve driven across, but I loved having the opportunity to soak up the scenery.

My favorite shop we visited on Sunday was Bayside Bargains! This resale and consignment shop had it all. Literally. Somehow, I found a leather fringe (Lucky brand) purse and a Sonny Angel. It was my lucky day!

Before we hit the road home, we of course had to stop by one more coffee shop. Lawlss was on my must-visit list because of a special feature in the cafe: a vault!

I could honestly sip coffee and chat in a vault all day. Our drinks were lovely, and the overall aesthetic was perfect. If you’re a local coffee shop enthusiast like me, you’ve got to check this place out!

We had such a fun time checking out new-to-us spots in Door County and specifically getting to know Sturgeon Bay. By the end of the weekend, I’m not even sure how many steps we got in, but I know it was A LOT. We really made the most of our 2-day trip!

Cheers to a gorgeous time – I’m looking forward to the next adventure!

Feelin’ Foxy Downtown Green Bay: My Foxy Pedaler & Foxy Paddler Experiences

Feelin’ Foxy Downtown Green Bay: My Foxy Pedaler & Foxy Paddler Experiences

If you’ve ever been walking around Downtown Green Bay in the summer, you’ve likely seen (and heard) a pedal pub cruising down the street. This is the Foxy Pedaler! But this isn’t the only option to ride and sip in style. There’s also the Foxy Paddler party boat, which offers a similar experience on the water.

I’ve recently taken a ride on each of the Foxy tours – an activity that’s been on my local wishlist for a little while now! And, I had a great time! Both provide a fun and unique experience to enjoy.

Here’s what my journeys looked like, plus a few tips for having the best experience. I hope this inspires you to plan your own Foxy tour.

My Foxy Pedaler Experience

This was my first time on a pedal pub, and it was a blast! For a couple of hours, we biked around town and visited three local bars:

  • Our first stop was Jill’s. This place is known for fresh-squeezed summer hummers – delish!
  • Second, we visited Lenny’s Tap. This is a spot I’m familiar with from downtown beer and wine walks. It’s a great place to grab a drink.
  • Last, but certainly not least, we went to C-Street. It’s a cozy spot with unique style!

Two of the three bars I had never been to, so I found the tour to be a great opportunity to explore my own city. Also, it was fun to ride around the downtown streets on the Pedaler. As you may imagine, it gets lots of looks, but also cheers!

My Foxy Paddler Experience

This tour brought us for a chill ride on the water and to visit a couple of local bar & grills: Fox Harbor and Hagemeister Park. Both are downtown favorites in Green Bay!

The Foxy Paddler tour was giving all of the best summer vibes. If you’re looking for something fun to do and to beat the heat, this is the thing! The cover, refreshments, and breeze from the water made a sunny summer day very comfortable.

If you have a large group you want to bike around with, this may also be the tour for you! The party boat can accommodate 22 people.

Smooth cruising and cold drinks – what’s not to like?

Tips for the Best Experience

Before you head on your adventure, plan ahead:

  • Make sure you have a fully charged phone with an upbeat playlist ready to go! You can get hooked up to the speaker system on the Pedaler or Paddler to set the tone for your on-the-go party.
  • Wear comfy shoes. You’ll be pedaling, getting on and off the pedaler/paddler, and walking around bars – it’s good to choose function over fashion in this situation.
  • Bring NA sips if you like! You can totally enjoy this experience without alcohol. Bring the sips that’ll complement your good time.

A Tasty Afternoon at the Ballpark: Trying the Timber Rattlers’ 2025 Menu

A Tasty Afternoon at the Ballpark: Trying the Timber Rattlers’ 2025 Menu

It’s officially spring and before we know it the Timber Rattlers will be back at the ballpark for game day! But, a good game isn’t the only thing to be excited about…

You’ll also love the Timber Rattlers’ 2025 ballpark menu!

Recently, I had the opportunity to try some of the new menu items early and enjoy popular items from past seasons at the 2025 Foodie Event. Let’s dive in and chat about all of the delicious bites!

My first plate included the Chicken Parm Sandwich, the Curveball Carnivore (the taller sandwich on plate #1), and Nathan’s Mini Corn Dogs. The Curveball Carnivore has 4 types of cheeses along with bacon, ham, BBQ pulled pork, and fried pork! Meat lovers, this is absolutely the sandwich for you. My favorite from my first plate was the classic Nathan’s Mini Corn Dogs – you can’t go wrong with these!

Moving on to my second plate, I had the 3 Little Pigs Grilled Cheese, Candied Bacon Bites, and Bacon Bites with Mac & Cheese. The 3 Little Pigs Grilled Cheese really stood out to me! It features Nueske’s bacon, ham, and BBQ pulled pork with a tomato-bacon aioli and three cheeses sandwiched between Texas toast. Is your mouth watering yet?

My third and final plate was the sweetest. I enjoyed a Short & Sweet Shooter and one of The Jackson “Churros.” These treats were the perfect finale to my tasting experience! So, when you head to the ballpark, make sure to complete your experience with a delicious dessert.

At the Foodie Event, I also discovered a couple of new favorite sips.

Stillmank’s Guava Juiced IPA was full of tropical flavor, and I could see it being perfectly refreshing for game day!

As a coffee lover, Badger State’s Buzzy Badger Coffee Ale won me over. It sips like a cold brew with flavors of vanilla, toffee, and mocha.

I couldn’t have asked for a tastier way to get ready for the 2025 season! Thank you to the Timber Rattlers for inviting me to this year’s Foodie Event.

Downtown Green Bay’s Cafe Crawl: A Caffeinated Adventure

Downtown Green Bay’s Cafe Crawl: A Caffeinated Adventure

I stayed very caffeinated last weekend while exploring nine local shops located in Downtown Green Bay. My husband, family, and I attended the Cafe Crawl together for the second year, so I think it qualifies as a tradition now!

The Cafe Crawl is one of my favorite annual events in the area. It combines my love for coffee and my love for the amazing local spots we have in Green Bay.

Here’s a look at where we explored on the crawl:

Glas Coffeehouse

Glas served up a special Draft Day brew and chocolate chip energy bites. They provided the perfect cozy setting to enjoy our treats and watch the trolly zoom from stop to stop outside the window.

Captain’s Walk Winery

This winery is a favorite spot of mine. The vibes, the aesthetic, and the wine are all incredible. Instead of serving simply coffee, Captain’s Walk served Coffee Bean Buzz cocktails (coffee with Kahlua, Tequila, and whipped cream).

Grounded Cafe

Here we sampled a hot cup of chaider (chai & apple cider), and a gluten-free peanut butter cookie. Look at the photo below and you’ll see that the cookie was so good my husband couldn’t let the phone eat first.

If you’ve been a reader, you may remember that I mentioned Grounded Cafe on the blog before. Grounded served as a stop on the 2023 Cafe Crawl, too! You can check out my 2023 Cafe Crawl journey for even more coffee shop recommendations. But, first, let’s visit the rest of the 2025 stops – read on!

Hotel Northland

This stop had my favorite treat: a cinnamon roll! Hotel Northland is a gorgeous place to stay or simply grab a drink or a meal. My husband and I enjoyed a mini staycation at Hotel Northland a couple of years back. It has a very elegant and historic charm while offering luxurious modern amenities.

Lion’s Mouth Bookstore

Book lovers, this is the place for you! Lion’s Mouth served freshly brewed coffee and tea. I hadn’t been in the shop since they unveiled their in-store coffee bar, so it was exciting to see the cafe in action! I’ll have to return for a sip and a read.

Loco Wisco

You can always depend on Loco Wisco for a beautiful assortment of local goods. Here, we sampled Door County Coffee and espresso cheese. I have to say, espresso and cheese seemed like an unusual pairing, but it totally worked!

Daily Buzz

I enjoyed a Honey Bee Refresher sample at Daily Buzz. This coffee shop is high on my list of downtown favorites. In the same location, at night, the space comes to life as The Nightly Buzz. It’s on my list of places to check out!

The Attic

Here is yet another place perfect for book lovers! The Attic has shelves of books to explore and find your next read as well as everything you’d expect from your typical coffee shop. They brewed a few tea options to try.

The Kompound

This is a fairly new coffee shop in the area, but it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. The Kompound has a unique style and a delicious line-up of lattes. During the crawl, I tried the Peanut Butter Latte – it was perfectly sweet and the tastiest way to wrap up our caffeinated adventure.

Living Out My Eras Tour Dreams in Wausau, WI

Living Out My Eras Tour Dreams in Wausau, WI

The day before Taylor Swift wrapped up her Eras Tour, I saw Fearless (a Taylor Swift tribute band) perform at The Cabin by Bantr. The concert was a fun opportunity to sing and dance along to some Taylor Swift hits! Sure, it was a smaller-scale production than the official tour, but it still had plenty of glitter, lights, and energy for any Swiftie to enjoy.

I went to the show with my mom, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law. We made a weekend trip of it and spent Saturday through Sunday in Wausau. Here’s a recap of our adventure:

Exploring Downtown Wausau

We arrived in the Wausau area early afternoon, so we had some time to spend downtown before checking into our hotel and getting ready for the show.

Our first stop was The Pinery for coffee and lunch. I ordered the Douglas latte (it tasted like pecan pie – yum!) and The Forager sandwich (can’t go wrong with turkey and pesto).

Right next door to The Pinery was The Chocolate Cafe. They had so many gorgeous treats and truffles. Next time I visit, I may need to try The Chocolate Cafe’s signature cacao-latte!

While downtown, we spotted a Santa walking around. And, upon further exploration, we even got to see The Grinch (do you spot him in the image above?)! The Grinch served as the greeter at Magnolia Soap and Bath Co, so of course we had to go into the shop. They had lots of beautiful smelling items. If you’re a fan of bath bombs, this is the place for you.

Thrifting in Rib Mountain

When we were done shopping around downtown, we drove to the closest Goodwill. It wouldn’t be a true shopping day for me if I didn’t end up thrifting a bit.

I found a pair of Lucky Brand jeans that were just my size. This is a brand of denim that I’m always on the lookout for!

I also scored a cute new skirt and a fun graphic T-shirt. Thank you to whoever donated their Simple Life tee – you’ve added a new staple to my wardrobe!

Overall, it was a perfect little haul for less than $30.

Back at Bantr

We shopped till we nearly dropped, and then made our way to Bantr. If you’ve been a reader, you know that Bantr is one of my go-to weekend getaway spots. It’s a cozy hotel with a cabin aesthetic, and concerts/events frequently happen on-site.

The Swiftie show was getting set up in the lobby when we arrived. We checked in, settled in, and walked over to The Bar for dinner. It’s nice that there are a few options for food close by. Going to The Bar almost felt like we were right at home (we have locations in Green Bay, too)!

Post-dinner, we spent some time in the hotel room chatting and getting ready.

Time for Taylor

A quick walk away from our hotel room, the party was getting started. We struck poses at the disco wall, grabbed drinks at the Bantr bar, and then found our spot in the crowd.

As you already know from my intro to this blog post, the show was great! I loved the energy, and it was fun to see unique Taylor Swift-inspired outfits from fellow attendees. We all danced the night away.

Good Morning from The Cabin

In the morning, I headed straight to the lobby for coffee. Bantr has some lovely lounge spaces that add to the cozy cabin vibes.

Who wouldn’t want to sip coffee and chat in this space?!

Sunday Brunch

Before hitting the road home, we wanted to grab breakfast (and more coffee, of course). Era has become one of my favorite spots during my Wausau weekend trips, so I was excited to share it with the girls.

I always get the caramel macchiato to drink at Era. For my meal, I ordered the avocado toast. It was a delicious finale to our weekend getaway.

Groovy & Spooky: Retroween at Retro Eighth Coffee

Groovy & Spooky: Retroween at Retro Eighth Coffee

As spooky season comes to a close, I’m glad I made it to one last Halloween-themed event. This weekend, Retro Eighth Coffee hosted Retroween – a party complete with coffee flights, creepy dolls, and a craft fair. The Brikery even brought mummy macarons. It was a scary fun time to enjoy!

The Grooviest Coffee Shop

Retro Eighth has such an iconic vibe and aesthetic. It’s the type of place where you could sip coffee and chat for hours – which means it’s totally my type of place.

The funky vibes of Retro Eighth even continue in the restroom with records on the wall. Gotta love the perfect mirror pic opportunity!

Tasty Sips & Eats

Both the drinks and food are delicious. My mom and I split a seasonal coffee flight and the Chipotle Aristotle sandwich.

The Chipotle Aristotle is a bagel sandwich with chicken, gouda, chipotle aioli, peppers, and avocado. If you like a bite with a touch of spice, this is the order for you!

The coffee flight featured a nice variety of sips: salted caramel, moon milk, vanilla bourbon, and maple & oak. If I were to order one of the drinks again, I’d likely go for the vanilla bourbon or the maple & oak.

Treat Yourself

If you find yourself in the Manitowoc area, stop by and enjoy! Don’t worry, the creepy dolls aren’t always out to play – Retroween was just a very special occasion.

Fall in Door County: 3 Spots to Visit

Fall in Door County: 3 Spots to Visit

A couple of weekends ago, my husband and I enjoyed a Door County day trip. It’s one of our favorite times to visit the area, and it has turned into an annual tradition to visit for apple picking. The drive from Green Bay to Door County is especially beautiful during the fall since you can see the colors change on all of the trees that line the highway.

During our weekend adventure, we stopped at one of our favorite places, and we checked out a couple of new to us locations. Here’s where we explored and where you should visit in Door County!

Lautenbach’s Winery & Market

We love it here. It’s rare that we go to Door County without stopping by Lautenbach’s for a wine flight. Attached to the winery is a market – it’s fun to shop and has lots of local goods to enjoy.

Lautenbach’s is also our apple-picking spot! We go for the Honeycrisp apples to make pie with.

Cupola House Cafe & Shops

During other Door County day trips, I’ve seen the Cupola house, but we always just drove by. After apple picking and wine tasting, I searched for a coffee shop in my maps app and came across the Cupola Cafe. So, we finally visited the pretty white house!

We shared an iced americano and looked around the shops inside of the Cupola. There were so many pretty and unique items for sale!

I was tempted by the bouquets of dried flowers and the sardine can candles…maybe next time.

Burton’s On The Bay

We chose to eat here purely based on the name (we are The Burton’s after all). It ended up being the perfect choice for lunch! You couldn’t beat the views from the dining room.

And, the food was delicious! We started with the bruschetta. I highly recommend this appetizer if you visit. As you may be able to tell, my phone didn’t eat first when our entrees arrived at the table. We dug right in!

Walking out of Burton’s provided us with an even more picturesque view. We may have to return during the summer to enjoy drinks and a meal on the patio.

Once we got home, we turned our apples into dessert! This apple pie was as good as it looks, and it was a sweet way to finish our fall day.

Valentine’s Trip to Bantr in Rothschild, WI

Valentine’s Trip to Bantr in Rothschild, WI

For Valentine’s weekend, my fiancΓ© and I enjoyed a cozy getaway at Bantr. We’ve been in the greater Wausau area a few times now and have continued to find new-to-us spots to explore. I like to challenge us to find new restaurants, coffee shops, and mini adventures on each of our weekend trips.

We got into town on Saturday around lunchtime. Hungry for a bite to eat, we went to La Taqueria. We both ended up getting the big burritos, so maybe we were hungry for more than just a bite…But, our meal was delicious! I went for chicken, and Ryan opted for chorizo. Whichever is your preference, I believe you’ll enjoy it!

While we did plan on exploring another restaurant in the area for dinner, *spoiler alert* we didn’t. We were full and very satisfied with our meal at La Taqueria throughout the rest of the day, so we just had a few snacks for dinner. The next time we visit, I’d love to try Tine & Cellar or The Velveteen Plum for a meal.

After lunch, we stopped by a coffee shop that has been on my list to try: Tucknee Coffee Company. I really enjoyed the look and feel of the cafe. And, they made a perfect London fog latte. It’s definitely the type of coffee shop that I could get comfy and sit for hours in.

It was just about time to check into our hotel room once we got done with our sips, so we made our way to Bantr. Our room was complete with a whirlpool tub and fireplace. Plus, a cute little rubber duck?!

Mr. Coolio caught my eye as we were getting settled in. He’s one of the Bantr ducks that you may find during your stay, and you can redeem him for a drink at the hotel bar. After taking some time to relax, we took up Mr. Coolio’s offer.

When we got to the bar, we saw speed daters chatting around tables. In the theme with Bantr’s event, there were two fun drink specials: Royal Blush and Nervous First Date. We grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered. Royal Blush was my favorite! I may need to put my skills to the test and try to make it at home.

Later in the evening, we enjoyed some live music and eventually ventured to the pool/hot tub. The hot tub is always one of the best things about staying at Bantr.

The next morning, we got packed up and checked out. Before really hitting the road, we wanted to grab breakfast. Breakfast Bear had been on my radar since I saw Visit Wausau post about the restaurant, so we decided to try it! I’m very happy we did.

It was admittedly packed when we got there, but we snagged a spot at the bar for 0 wait time. I got a vanilla iced latte and a classic breakfast of eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast that hit the spot. Ryan got the most delicious-looking breakfast burrito and a macchiato.

Breakfast Bear or Era Pancakes and Cafe are both amazing brunch spots in the area with nice aesthetics and quality coffee drinks. You can’t go wrong with either!

Cheers to our sweet Valentine’s getaway! I’m looking forward to the next adventure.

Places You Should Visit in Wausau, WI

Places You Should Visit in Wausau, WI

This year, I enjoyed a couple of mini getaways in Wausau, and I’m planning another soon! It’s the perfect distance away from my home in Green Bay to feel like a getaway while being a short and sweet road trip. On my Wausau adventures, I’ve discovered unique places to explore, eat, and grab drinks. Read on for some of my favorites!

A Cozy Stay

Bantr has been a lovely host in the Wausau area. The hotel has a log cabin style and cozy feel. I’ve had a great time at events they host. The NEW Dueling Pianos performed at the hotel bar over Halloweekend – it was a blast. Also, Bantr has the best hot tub, so pack a swimsuit when you visit!

Things To Do

On my first trip to the area, I saw the Monk Botanical Gardens. This was the perfect place to get a relaxing walk in. I’d love to visit again when the gardens are in bloom!

On another trip, I went to Wisconsin’s oldest bookstore, Janke. I highly recommend this shop to all book lovers. There are so many used and new books to look at as well as other items like craft supplies, journals, and more.

If you’re a night owl, The Garage is a fun bar to check out. They are true to the theme with creative decor like cars mounted on the walls.

Delicious Bites & Sips

I always love trying local food spots! During my first time visiting the Wausau area, I grabbed dinner at Red Eye Brewing. Their Forager pizza was delicious (and vegetarian-friendly!). The next time, I had dinner at Sconni’s – if fried brussel sprouts are your thing, you need to go there for the apps.

On future trips, I’m looking forward to exploring more of the local coffee shops, but I’ve enjoyed Clean Slate Coffeehouse. The playful and eclectic aesthetic of the place is very cool!

For brunch, Era Pancakes and Cafe is the spot! The look and feel of the place is very pretty and open. Also, the food and hand-crafted coffee drinks are amazing! Treat yourself, and order the Caramel Macchiato if you visit.
