Exploring Coffee Shops in Downtown Green Bay

Exploring Coffee Shops in Downtown Green Bay

This past weekend, I joined in on the Cafe Crawl all around Downtown Green Bay. The crawl featured six different local coffee and tea shops and lots of unique caffeinated treats to enjoy. Admittedly, I’ve been waiting for this event to return since the last Cafe Crawl I went to in 2018. Coffee and hanging out downtown are just a couple of my favorite things, so this event is the perfect blend!

If you’re looking for a new cafe to try, you can’t go wrong with any of the shops that were on the Cafe Crawl route:

Daily Buzz Espresso Bar

The crawl began at Daily Buzz Espresso Bar. This shop is a favorite of mine since I can always count on enjoying something from their seasonal drink menu. Not to mention, their food is great and their bakery case is always mouth-watering. The aesthetic of Daily Buzz is a bit industrial yet still cozy.

Glas Coffeehouse

As you may guess from the name, Glas Coffeehouse has Irish roots. This place is my go-to when I want a big cup of cold brew. If you don’t get a chance to visit this shop in person, you should check if you’re in the designated area for their bike delivery. Yep, you read that right. They deliver coffee and treats in a very eco-friendly way.

Grounded Cafe at ADRC

If you’re looking for a cup of coffee that can make a difference, check out Grounded Cafe. They provide a space for people of all abilities and all ages to thrive. You can check them out on the ‘gram for all of their daily special announcements.

The Attic Books and Coffee

Calling all book lovers! The coffee shop doubles as a book shop. So, while you sip, you can also shop a variety of pre-loved books. I always recommend The Attic to friends who are new to the area.

Cultivate Taste Tea Salon

Cultivate Taste is a tea shop that’s somewhat new to the area and very new to me. I’ve stopped by a couple of times during local events like the Cafe Crawl, but I’d love to visit for an official tea tasting.

Voyageurs Bakehouse

This place is really beautiful and bright. Their lattes are artfully done, and their bakery treats are so yummy. Voyageurs is the kind of place that I enjoy going to on a slow Saturday morning. If you’re looking for a solid breakfast and an Instagramable location, this is your place.

Which coffee shops will you try or have you tried? Any favorites? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or on Instagram. Let’s chat!

Starbucks At Home: How-To Make the Honey Citrus Mint Tea

Starbucks At Home: How-To Make the Honey Citrus Mint Tea

One of my favorite cozy-time drinks is the Honey Citrus Mint Tea from Starbucks. You may also know this drink by its nickname, Medicine Ball. I find this tea so soothing when I need a little pick-me-up or a drink to cuddle up with. It’s the kind of drink that I like to have especially during snowy or rainy days. It tastes fruity, tart, and extremely refreshing. The best part? It’s super easy to make at home!

Seriously, you don’t have to be a barista to successfully make this beverage. Plus, you can most likely find everything you need to make it at your local Target.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Step 1: Heat up a cup of equal parts water and lemonade

You don’t have to be too scientific with the measurements here. I typically just grab a mug and fill it halfway with lemonade and then fill the rest with water. I microwave it for about 60-90 seconds. You can heat this mixture over the stove as well; it just takes a little longer.

Step 2: Add honey to your mug

After the water and lemonade mixture is heated, I stir in a bit of honey. I use about a teaspoon. If you prefer sweeter tea, add extra honey. If you want it more tart, add less honey.

Step 3: Add one of each tea bag to steep

It’s the mix of 1 Peach Tranquility tea bag and 1 Jade Citrus Mint tea bag that really gives you the delicious sweet yet minty flavor. I like to let these tea bags steep for about 3-5 minutes.

Step 4: Enjoy

Once your tea is done steeping, you can remove the tea bags or leave them in for continued diffusion. Then, all that’s left to do is enjoy your drink!

Cheers To Year 3 of Blogging

Cheers To Year 3 of Blogging

Here’s to another blogaversary! MeganRoshak.com just turned three years old today.

Before starting this annual post, I looked back at what I wrote for year one and two of blogging. It was interesting to open up the digital time capsule and see what I was thinking and feeling at those times. The posts still resonate with me, yet I know so much has changed for me personally from the time those were written to now.

When I wrote about year one of blogging, I was still in college. When I wrote about year two of blogging, I was just getting into the groove of post-grad life. Now, I’d say that I have more of my ish together. I don’t mean to say that I have it all together because that’s just not true, but I feel good about the place that I’m at.

During year three of the blog, you may have noticed some changes too:

  • I had the opportunity to share way more experiences and dabbled in travel blog posts. My trip to Nashville inspired me to write about travel and capture memories as well as recommendations.
  • I shared a couple of new Q&A posts with people/brands I admire. For our mostly female community, I found Victoria Lyons’ story especially important to share. I’m glad I had the opportunity to speak with her about her female-first condom brand, Slipp.
  • I brought you to my home in Wisconsin through a few posts. If you find yourself in Madison or Green Bay, you may recognize some of my favorite places.

In year four, I want to continue sharing adventures on the blog: big and small. You can also expect Q&A posts from time to time with lifestyle and fashion content in the mix. As always, if there’s anything that you’d like to see, you can let me know! I appreciate your ideas and input.

Thank you for following along and celebrating year three with me; I’m happy you’re here!

What would you like to see in year four? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or on Instagram. Let’s chat!

Texas Vacation Highlights: Visiting San Antonio & Dallas

Texas Vacation Highlights: Visiting San Antonio & Dallas

Last month, I had a family vacation in Texas, and I’m excited to tell *y’all* about it. We spent a total of five days traveling and sightseeing in both San Antonio and Dallas.

When we first landed in Texas, I spotted a Dutch Bros Coffee and just had to stop. I ordered a Caramel Pumpkin Brulee Cold Brew; it was absolutely delicious. After getting caffeinated, it was time to get to our hotel and check-in. On the first night of the trip, we stayed at the Sheraton Gunter Hotel in San Antonio. The hotel was very posh and pretty.

That same night, we enjoyed a San Antonio River Boat Tour. It was dark out, and the streets along the river were beautifully lit up. Our tour guide pointed out some historically important spots along the river and even gave us intel on haunted locations. Our hotel was, unfortunately, on the haunted locations list, but I don’t recall experiencing anything too paranormal.

After the boat ride, we grabbed dinner at Rio Rio Cantina. They had 10/10 margaritas and a perfect veggie quesadilla. What can I say, it hit the spot.

On day two, we checked out The Alamo (aka the place you kinda have to check out if you go to San Antonio). We also stopped by “The Oldest Saloon in Texas,” The Buckhorn. The Buckhorn was more than just a bar; it was also a pretty sizable museum featuring Texas Ranger memorabilia, lots of mounted animals, a replica Bonnie & Clyde car, and more. I know the “mounted animals” part sounds a bit odd, but the story behind the animals is quite interesting. My favorite part about this place was a section of the museum that looked just like an old western town. You could walk through swinging saloon doors and peek in old-time shop windows. Overall, The Buckhorn is a fun tourist spot to check out!

The second half of our Texas trip brought us to the Dallas area. Here, we saw the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium. It was neat to see another NFL stadium but, admittedly, the Green Bay Packers’ tour is better.

Post-tour, we grabbed food at Mellow Mushroom: a groovy pizza chain. The food was good, and the aesthetic was very cool. I mean, take a look at that lava lamp chandelier!

We spent our last night in Texas watching a Cowboys game at Texas Live. The Live Arena was packed full of energized fans. This place has a few different bars and restaurants inside and lots of TV screens for game days. If you find yourself in Arlington, definitely check out Texas Live.

I’m happy I got the chance to see so many new-to-me places on this latest trip to Texas! Feel free to let me know in the comments, or on Instagram, if you’ve ever been to Texas or have any favorite spots. I’d love to hear about your experience too!

Thrifting at the 2022 Fall Shop Hop in Green Bay, WI

Thrifting at the 2022 Fall Shop Hop in Green Bay, WI

Over the weekend, I enjoyed exploring a variety of resale and consignment shops in the Green Bay area. There were quite a few shops on the 2022 Fall Shop Hop list that I had never visited. It was great to discover local businesses to shop for pre-loved clothing, accessories, furniture, decor, and more!

I began my Shop Hop journey at Three Lil Birds. This shop had lots of home decor as well as clothing. If you are in the market for second-hand designer purses, this is the place to go. They had lots of Dooney and Bourke and Coach bags. Three Lil Birds also had a big selection of Harley Davidson gear (including boots, shirts, leather jackets, belts, pants, etc.).

Next, I visited Uniquely Yours Antiques. This shop had lots of home decor items. I loved the teacup candles that one booth was selling. Another item that caught my eye was a wooden croquet set (if I had a yard, this would’ve come home with me).

Wonderland Vintage Market was a short stroll away from Uniquely Yours. This shop featured decor, collectibles, antiques, and some vintage clothing booths.

I loved when I found a Beavis figurine at Wonderland, but the booth that stood out to me the most was BLK & WHT. All of the prints were so fun and gorgeous. I adored the drinkware, the gold decor items, and the overall vibe of the booth. I will have to revisit it.

One of my favorite shops, the Green Bay ReStore, was on the Shop Hop route. This place has been my go-to for furniture and frames since I moved into my current apartment. I always enjoy looking around the ReStore to see what’s new.

Across the street from the ReStore is The Mixed Basket. They have lots of home decor items, as well as some larger furniture pieces. You can also depend on The Mixed Basket for unique glassware and drinkware.

The last shops I made it to were the Allouez Cottage and Interior Motives. Allouez Cottage offers a unique shopping experience since it’s an old house that was turned into a vintage shop. They had decor, some clothing, and other vintage finds. Interior Motives had lots of larger furniture pieces and upscale home decor. They also had perfect candles for fall, along with a large selection of Berres Brothers Coffee.

I didn’t make it to all of the shops on the Fall Shop Hop list over the weekend, but I’m happy to explore more another time! If you are in Green Bay, I encourage you to do the same. We have so many unique small businesses to shop and support!

Where is your favorite resale store? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or on Instagram. Let’s chat!

A Few Summer Concerts & Outfits

A Few Summer Concerts & Outfits

August has been a month full of live music! I couldn’t imagine a better way to wrap up summer.

Back in June, I wrote a blog post with Goodwill NCW that covered four thrifted concert looks and discussed the beginning of the festival season. In the post, I talked a bit about attending an Eric Church concert, a Jason Derulo concert, and Freedom Country Festival. It feels like it was just yesterday since the piece was published, but I’ve been to three more concerts since then.

Early in August, I saw 3OH!3 perform in Green Bay’s Titletown District. I have to admit that I listened to them quite a bit in middle and early high school, so it was cool to see them live. Yes, I fangirled when they played “Don’t Trust Me.” I wore a “black dress with the tights underneath,” (*wink, wink*) paired with a black denim jacket and faux snakeskin booties.

Last weekend, I saw Oliver Tree perform at The Rave in Milwaukee, WI. His openers were Huddy and Jawny. The whole show was incredible, energizing, and engaging. If Oliver Tree is ever in your area, go to the show! Just be prepared for lots of jumping up and down and screaming. Also, be prepared to join in on a few chants. Did I mention that Oliver also likes to open up the mosh pit? Oh, and he has a cow statue and other props handy. It’s an absolute blast.

For this show, I went for a casual yet accessorized look. I threw on some white tennies and a white tank with my black denim shorts and jacket. I brought my completely bedazzled purse along and put on a fuzzy black bucket hat. With how warm the venue got, I definitely could’ve left my jacket in the car; but hey, fashion over function.

Last night, I attended the “Sounds of Nashville” show at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens. This concert was unique since it featured a few country songwriters. JT Harding and the Warren Brothers played #1 country songs that they wrote. You may know the song “Alone With You” performed by Jake Owen or Blake Shelton’s hit, “Sangria.” Well, those were both written by JT Harding! The Warren Brothers wrote Chris Young’s “Sober Saturday Night,” Toby Keith’s “Red Solo Cup,” and more (of course)!

This concert was also unique because the songwriters shared stories of how the country hits came to be. They shared a bit about their journeys as artists as well. It was a very relaxed, conversational, and good show.

For this concert, I kept my outfit country with my tall black cowboy boots and a little black dress. I can’t wait for another excuse to break these boots out.

I think that’s a wrap on concerts for me this summer, but I’m excited to see what fall may bring for events!

Do you have any upcoming concert plans? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or on Instagram. Let’s chat!

The *Best* Way to Crop Your T-Shirts

The *Best* Way to Crop Your T-Shirts

The way I styled my shirts changed after I saw this Reel in my Instagram feed. In the reel, @torylleigh shares how she cuts her crop tops with a curve rather than a straight across cut. While this may not sound like a huge difference, it actually creates a unique look. If you sometimes feel like t-shirts or basic crop tops make you look “boxy,” you have got to try this cropping method.

Step 1: Try the shirt on to see where you would like it cropped. This ensures that you don’t cut it too short or too long. It may seem like an obvious step, but it’s one that I occasionally regret skipping.

Step 2: Lay your shirt down on a flat surface. Make sure there are no wrinkles; this will cause you to get a jagged cut rather than a clean one.

Step 3: Start cutting the shirt. As you cut, you’ll want to create a half circle. You can fold the fabric over once you are to the center of the shirt to mirror your cuts on the other side. Pro tip: Use fabric scissors. These are sharper, easier to use, and they give you a better cut!

Step 4: Cut down the center of the neckline. This is an optional step depending on the look that you are going for. You can have a plunging v-neck cut, just a slight cut, or no cut. It’s up to you!

Step 5: Pull along the fabric that you cut. When you pull along the fabric, it naturally “curls”/folds over. This helps to clean up any slightly jagged cuts.

And finally, your crop top is ready to wear! I love how chopped-up tops only get better with age. Once you wash and dry this t-shirt a few times, the cuts will soften even more and it’ll be perfectly worn in.

Do you have a different cropping method? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or on Instagram. Let’s chat!

Things To Do This Summer in Green Bay, WI

Things To Do This Summer in Green Bay, WI

Summer is not over yet! There is still lots to do before we wrap up July and August, especially in Green Bay.

In this post, I’ll share five things that I’ve been enjoying this summer. If you also live in Green Bay, we may have some favorite things to do in common. Yet, I hope that you can find something new to try in this post! If you are not from Green Bay, I believe this post offers some good recommendations for a visit.

Go To the Downtown Farmers’ Markets

When the weather starts warming up in Green Bay, I always look forward to farmers’ market season. On Wednesday nights, you can catch the Farmers’ Market on Broadway from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There are local produce vendors as well as a few food trucks and beer tents. Also, you’ll find a handful of vendors selling floral bouquets.

On Saturday morning, there’s a farmers’ market from 7:00 am to noon on South Washington Street in Downtown Green Bay. I love to catch the free yoga at 8:00 am. This market also has a lot of local vendors and food trucks. I always have to stop by Coffee Wizardz‘s nitro cold brew stand; their draft lattes are incredible.

Enjoy Live Music, Wine Slushies, and Sangria at Captain’s Walk Winery

Captain’s Walk Winery is currently hosting a Summer Concert Series on Thursday nights (you can check the dates here). They have wine slushies on the menu Thursday through Sunday throughout summer. Yes, these are absolutely delicious.

Before summer is over, I need to make it to one of their Sangria Saturdays. From 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays in the summer, you can get 1 liter of sangria and a basket of chips with homemade salsa for just $14!

Attend Titletown District Events

There’s always something going on in Titletown. Lately, they’ve been hosting a series of free concerts with some pretty big names. I’m looking forward to seeing 3OH!3 on August 13th! In the district, they also host workout classes, outdoor movies, and more! You can check out their full calendar of events here.

Go Out On Downtown Dinner Dates

A few of my favorite places to grab dinner in Downtown Green Bay include Copper State, Vintage Cantina, and Fox Harbor. I probably frequent Fox Harbor the most, but Vintage is a close second. You can depend on these three for a good meal and good drinks.

Enjoy Live Music and Brews at Badger State Brewing

Badger State Brewing has live music in their beer garden every Friday night (now through August)! It’s the perfect spot to kick back, relax, and have a good time. They have a huge beer selection, and they frequently feature new brews. Lately, I’ve really liked Tiki Tom Margs, Stateside Seltzer’s Hard Lemonade, and Badger State’s Cran-Delusion.

Visiting Kentucky: Red River Gorge, Churchill Downs, and More!

Visiting Kentucky: Red River Gorge, Churchill Downs, and More!

Last month, I hit the road to Kentucky with my S.O. and family. We saw and explored a lot during the three-day road trip.

We left Green Bay, WI on a Thursday night to begin the drive. After a few hours, we made it to Fair Oaks, Indiana. We decided to spend the night at the Fairfield Inn by Fair Oaks Farm.

This hotel was very cute and unique. The outside looked like a literal barn, and an actual farm was a short walk away. It was fun to explore the farm store, the hotel, and the property that the hotel was on. I appreciated the very *aesthetic* cow statues that were in the lobby.

Staying here gave us all the rest we needed to continue the drive Friday morning.

It took most of the day to make it to our cabin in the Red River Gorge area in Kentucky, but we made it before dark. We stayed at the “Along the Ridge” rental. It was roomy, beautifully tucked away, and it even had a hot tub.

On Saturday, we went on a few hikes. First, we explored Gray’s Arch. Then, we walked across the Sky Bridge. Both trails were gorgeous with amazing views. As someone who doesn’t typically hike, I found these trails more than doable. It made me want to explore more hiking trails on future trips, as well as back home.

After a long day of adventuring, we made it back to the cabin to enjoy family time and mules.

We got up fairly early the next day to finish sightseeing before heading home. On the road to Churchill Downs, we got to stop at a Buc-ee’s. I’d describe it as the Disneyland of c-stores. Seriously, they had everything (not to mention a bronze beaver statue in front of their store).

Arriving at the Churchill Downs gate was incredible. I felt like an ant next to the entrance. In case you didn’t already know, Churchill Downs is where the Kentucky Derby happens, but they host other horse races throughout the year. It was cool to see the place and a few races in person. Of course, I had to get a mint julep to really take in the atmosphere.

We got back to Green Bay early Monday morning, so after some sleep, it was time to get back into the swing of things. I feel like we definitely made the most of our time in Kentucky, and I enjoyed seeing so many new sights. I’d love to go back sometime and maybe even see the Kentucky Derby.

Have you ever been to Kentucky? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or on Instagram. Let’s chat!

Chicago Trip Recap

Chicago Trip Recap

Last weekend, my S.O. and I went for a weekend trip to Chicago. We definitely made the most of our two full days in the city.

Our first stop upon arrival was the Starbucks Reserve Roastery that’s downtown. Fun fact: this is actually the world’s largest Starbucks! I ordered us a couple of cold brews and a big cinnamon roll. It was delicious, of course.

Once energized, we headed over to Shedd Aquarium. It had been years since I was there, so it was cool to see it again! There were tons of exhibits to check out; we almost didn’t realize that there were multiple floors. The shark and stingray section has remained my favorite.

After exploring the aquarium, we got checked into our hotel.

We decided to stay at the Moxy since it was walking distance from everywhere that we wanted to go. Our room was on the third floor, so it ended up having a nice view.

We hung out in the lobby bar after getting settled and grabbed drinks. We discovered a lot of new games; the Moxy had a bunch of card, board, and other games just sitting out. Quickly, Space Force became an addiction.

Soon it was time to grab some dinner, so we headed over to Radio Room.

I ordered some fish tacos and a drink by the name “Spice World.” I couldn’t resist ordering a spicy marg named after the Spice Girls.

The next day, we grabbed coffee at Heritage and then grabbed breakfast at Edie’s. If you like pink, you’d love the interior decor of Edie’s. It was a super aesthetic place with a good menu.

Once again caffeinated, we walked over to Millenium Park. We walked around and took a bunch of pictures in the bean. We also stumbled upon a mini-golf course, so we gave it a go. Each hole had its own Chicago-themed challenge. I was not victorious in this game, but it was still very fun.

Once we covered everything that we wanted to see at the park, we headed to Navy Pier.

We rode the huge ferris wheel and grabbed a marg at Margaritaville. Is the ferris wheel overhyped? Maybe, but if you didn’t ride it, did you really get the Navy Pier experience? Also, it is pretty cool to look out on the city from that height. I’d say it’s worth the ride ticket.

After a while, we left the pier to do a bit of shopping. I scored a cute top to wear to dinner at Zara (you may have seen it on the ‘gram, here). Speaking of dinner, we ended up at Pink Taco! I enjoyed their shrimp tacos and a cilantro cucumber marg.

The next day, it was time to head back home to Green Bay. I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t exhausted after our big walking day. It felt good to have the time to sleep in and then make the drive back.

It was fun to see the windy city again. I’m sure I’ll be back sometime!
